For months, the US has been saying that Russia is running the operation in Eastern Ukraine. Well, they have finally gotten their wish. Prior to this point, the separatists were Ukrainian. That 200,000 people have now fled INTO Russia from this area should tell you that these people have always been okay with Russia.
Well, in the past week, the Ukrainian government has been shooting missiles over the boarder into Russia, and Russia is tired of it. Russia has never been a wimp in this whole ordeal - mainly just showing restraint in my opinion. In fact, after I saw the story about the Ukraine firing missiles into Russia, I saw the story with the "satellite" images showing Russia firing back. If those are real satellite images, they really should do something to make them look a little less doctored.
Now, it seems as if the Ukrainian government is trying to destroy the crash site by fighting. They are mowing down everything in their path to get to the site and blaming the rebels for fighting back. Here's an intelligent method of dealing with it: Ukraine (and the US) if your governments were truly NOT involved in taking down the civilian airliner, pull all your troops back. IF you are NOT there to attack them, the rebels will have nothing to attack.
But the more evidence I see, the more I am convinced that this was an inside job. The Ukrainian government says that the "plane was punctured multiple times by shrapnel" proving that a missile shot it down. To me that sounds like another plane was shooting at it. Granted, I don't know how the Ukrainian government knows so much about the situation. The black boxes are supposed to be in the UK. If the international community allowed the Ukrainian government to "inspect" them before allowing an unbiased government to do it, the international community made a poor choice and none of the black box evidence should be trusted.
And I'm sorry, but it seems a little convenient for this to hit the news today, but if Russia has been violating this treaty for so long, why are we only just now saying something about it. I feel like we (the US) are the annoying kid on the playground who goes around pointing our fingers and tattling on everyone even if they didn't do anything wrong.
Since Russia seems like it has finally decided to take an active part in this situation, it will be interesting to see how it all plays out. We keep "sanctioning" them and our side says "we really hurt them with that last round" but every time we sanction Russia, it seems our stock markets drop, or our gas prices go up. Who's really getting hurt?
In parting: "We cannot rule out the possibility that the White House is getting public
opinion ready for active US participation in the fighting in Ukraine." -
Vladimir Skosyrev in Nezavisimaya Gazeta. I have to agree. Every word that I have seen spoken against Russia has come from either the US or the Ukrainian government. Where is the international community? If Russia is truly as bad as the US has painted them, why isn't any other country casting blame and providing real evidence? (I have only seen accusations and not evidence from Ukraine and the US - that accusations come weeks before "satellite" images are released makes me even more suspicious of them.)
