So, after increasing corn prices because of corn shortages, which has led to an increase in prices of corn/ corn products, milk, eggs, meat, and other animal products, after scaring people away from corn syrup so they could make more ethanol with the corn instead of food products, and after causing several people in poor countries to be even more hungry because they couldn't afford their staple food, now they finally admit that ethanol is really no better for the environment than petroleum.
By the way, it's nice that this writer classifies it as "corn ethanol" - that leaves it open for some other consumable to be turned into gas. Only people would say, "Hey, let's use our food to power machines." Granted, I suppose that's one way to reduce your population - which is what governments want. After all the less people you have under you the more money (and commodities) you can take from them and the less people you will have to fend off if they revolt.
It always cracks me up when I see companies and governments talking about saving the environment. Oh, go "green" by using e-billing. No - please get on the computer and pay us because it costs too much for us to send these statements to you in the mail and we want to reduce our overhead. Paper is fully recyclable and biodegrades nicely - the energy you use to power your computer is not environmentally friendly.
FYI - about 56 pounds of corn make up the 1 bushel of corn it takes to produce 3 gallons of ethanol.
