What idiot made the flight plan for the Malaysian plane? Really, you are flying in an airzone that the Ukrainian government warned about flying over, at a height that would make it easy for a person on the ground to mistake you for a military plane (especially if that person is a rebel without military training), in an area that has had numerous military planes shot down during the past few days.
Seriously, some people at Malaysian Air need to get the axe. First they lose a plane, in a globally monitored area, and now they fly directly over a war zone. Remind me not to purchase tickets with them no matter how cheap they are. I know some people (possibly paid) are claiming it wasn't an "official" warzone. AirFrance and several others (including Russian airlines) did not divert their flights either - interestingly, the US (FAA) and Ukraine both have issued warnings about avoiding the area for commercial flights...
Yes, this one was probably the rebels or Ukrainian officials trying to blame the rebels (one has to wonder how Anton Gerashenko from the new Ukrainian government knew so soon and so certainly that it was shot down by a "Buk missle"). In addition, the posted a video supposedly of the separatists claiming they shot it down. When I tried to access this video from a BBC link shortly after it was posted the day of the crash, I was puzzled. It had been removed from YouTube. Ironically, I have seen a "cut and pasted" video of this posted on news websites such as Forbes. However, I have seen some comments stating that the video was fixed - it originally had an earlier date recorded on it. This is the problem with being able to change anything instantly on the Internet. I was never able to see the original video, so I do not know about the date. I can tell you that the video had been pulled off YouTube for some period of time the day of the crash because I tried to access it and could not.
Too bad we don't recognize the rebel nation - then a flight plan would have had to be filed with them, which would have probably prevented this accident. Oh wait, Malaysian planes have a habit of deviating from their flight plans...
Granted, the Ukrainian Air Traffic Control told Malaysian Air they lost contact with the plane at 14:15 (GMT) but FlightTrader24 managed to keep track of it longer (13:21 UTC). Also, Ukrainian Air Traffic control requested that the plane fly lower than it planned to fly. Was this a coincidence or did they want the rebels to see the plane and accidentally shoot it? Finally, why are the "eye' witnesses saying they say the plane descend and then heard the explosions?
In the end, I am sure the separatists will be blamed, whether they caused the wreck or not. The rest of the world will never get a clear answer because who can trust either of the major players (Russia and the US) in this investigation to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
