I don't like the way I look either - can I get a free tummy tuck and liposuction in prison?

I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous. The military is paying to change the sex of one of its prisoners. How is this any different than me committing a crime, getting put in prison, and asking for any other cosmetic surgery? Sorry, it's not. What is really the point of sending anyone to prison? There is no punishment anymore. In fact, with three good meals each day, cable television, recreation, the ability to get free degrees, and now cosmetic surgery (free), we certainly treat prisoners a whole lot better than what we treat our law abiding citizens.

I even had a hard time getting my varicose veins paid for when I had insurance because it was considered "cosmetic." Really? My legs felt like they were on fire because the itched so badly and I am prone to blacking out under stress if I don't wear the support hose you get with the surgery. But here is this guy who wants to be a girl because he isn't happy with his body and now he gets to change his body image at the expense of the military. Nice. Unlike my vein surgery, which was a one time deal, he will have to be on medications and hormone treatments for the rest of his interment.

The real kicker is that no matter how hard he tries to change his outward appearance, he will never be a woman. He can act like a woman, but it will always be an act. He can have chemicals to make his body respond similar to a woman, but it will never be the same. It seems to me, our money would be better spent putting him in therapy that will really help him to appreciate who he is and be happy with his body as it is.
